About Madinah Footsteps

Madinah Footsteps is a bilingual hiking website created by two sisters as a senior capstone project. The project was inspired by our family’s love for the outdoors and the landscapes of Madinah. Every trail featured on this site has been personally visited and hiked by the website authors—often more than once—to ensure that the information we share is practical, accurate, and grounded in real experience.

Our goal is to make exploring Madinah’s trails more accessible and meaningful to local families. Some of the routes highlighted on the site are well known, while others are lesser-known or recently discovered. In our trail descriptions, we highlight the historical, cultural, and/or religious significance of the areas surrounding each trail. We also include information to help you select the right trail for you, such as the trail terrain, length and level of difficulty. And to help you plan your hiking trips, we include the trail location, photos, and whether any amenities are available at the trail site.

From one hiking family to another, we are deeply aware that increased visibility of these trails but posting them on our website could increase the number of visitors and exposure to the public. Madinah’s trails are fragile, and irresponsible use can lead to environmental damage, littering, and loss of access for others. If you explore the trails of Madinah, we ask that you do so with care and respect.

Please stay on existing paths, take all litter with you, avoid damaging plants or rocks, and be mindful that these places hold natural and cultural value. By hiking responsibly, we can help ensure that these trails remain open, beautiful, and meaningful into the future.

Madinah Footsteps exists to share our passion for hiking, support safe and informed exploration, and encourage a deeper appreciation of Madinah’s landscapes—one step at a time.
